We’ve officially hit the half way mark! Yeay! From here we’ll have more weeks under our belt, than there are left until we meet our sweet baby girl. My belly is expanding every day to make room for her. Our ultrasound made it real for me. I know you’re thinking, you’ve been pregnant for five months and it hasn’t felt real yet? There was something about seeing her move her arms, legs, fingers, toes and that cute little profile that just made it sink in. We’re actually going to have a baby this July.
Weight Gain to Date: The doctor’s scale said 8lbs on the dot yesterday. This means I’m right on track but yikes, that’s like 6.5 lbs in 5 weeks. It’s all good though. We had just eaten lunch before the appointment, I’m going to say about 1 lb is Falafal and water.
Belly Button in or out: In. It’s not as deep as it once was, but is definitely still an inney.
Baby Size: Peanut is now the size of a cantalope, 6.5 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. She weighs in at 10 ounces (according to the ultrasound yesterday).
New Developments: Peanut is producing meconium and has working taste buds.
Cravings: Spicy food. Seriously I want it to make my nose run. But after I eat that of course I want something sweet. My favorite right now with White Chocolate Dreams Peanut Butter with an apple. Maybe a Tagalong Girl Scout cookie too. Oh and strawberries…I’ve already eaten a half pound this week.
Food aversions: Still tofu. Sometimes chicken. Raw spinach…can’t stand the way it feels on my teeth.
Feeling: Feeling good! No nausea, headaches are rare and I have some energy. I do think I’m coming down with a cold though.
Sleep: Sleep has gotten much better! I’ve been trying to stay up a little bit later and that seems to help me stay asleep. I also am having fewer trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night thanks to be uterus expanding up to my belly button.
Movement: Yes! I am learning Peanut’s sleep/wake schedule. The biggest kicks/somersaults are at night time. The ultrasound tech said my placenta is perfectly positioned (her words) in the back which is why I was able to feel Peanut early and why Josh can already feel movements on the outside.
Gender: A beautiful little girl. We’re so excited! I ordered her crib as soon as I got home from the appointment yesterday. It should be here in about a week. Holy cow, we’re having a baby this summer!
Maternity Clothes: I’m living in my maternity shirts from Target…love love love them! I think I’m going to need to buy about 20 more. I’m pretty much rocking the maternity pants now too. I finally found a pair of maternity jeans that fits. Thank goodness! I can still fit into some of my other pants, but I’m edging closer to muffin top status, so I’d rather wear the stretchy, all forgiving maternity pants.
What I miss: Running…now I know that Peanut’s little head it right against my bladder. No wonder I can’t run anymore.
What I love about pregnancy: Feeling my little miracle move. Not feeling the need to suck in my belly after a big meal. Having an excuse to wear pants with elastic waists. The joy it’s bringing to Josh and I. I especially love when he talks to my belly and the smile that is on his face when looks at my growing belly.
