Its Fat Tuesday, which means tomorrow, is Ash Wednesday, not that I’m going out and getting crazy tonight. This also means it’s the beginning of Lent. For the past six years or so I’ve given up sweets for the 40 days of Lent. This year I’ve been seriously debating if I can actually handle forgoing all sweet treats from now into late April. After all haven’t I given up a lot already, alcohol, running, my body, my normal clothes…not complaining (just saying), I’ve happily forgone all of those things for our little one.
It’s not that I need sweets every day, but I sure do want them. After anything salty I crave chocolate BAD. Giving them up would sure help keep my weight gain in check, not that it’s totally out of control or anything. Maybe I could give up sweets but allow myself one cheat day/week? All I can say is whoever thought it was a good idea for the Girl Scouts to sell cookies at this time of year is pure evil.
I suppose I have until tomorrow morning to make my decision. Here are some things I’ve thought of as alternatives to giving something up during the season.
- Commit to going to church every Sunday
- Do the strength portion of Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred or No More Trouble Zone every day.
- Donate my time or money to a charitable cause each week.
Ok that’s all I’ve got for right now. But they seem like some good options. Are you giving up anything? Suggestions for me?
A new pregnancy update and picture, 22 weeks (!) coming soon.
