Let’s Get Back To It

I’ve been off-track, distracted, and talking about controversial subjects more than running recently. The thing is, I haven’t run since last Tuesday when I ran an easy three mile post-race recovery run. When Josh asked me what I wanted to do for Mother’s Day I told him run. I wanted to go for a 10 mile run.

When I went to bed on Saturday night I had a fever of 101. Coupled with the aches, headache, chills and nausea, I knew the chances of my making it out for my run were slim, but I was trying to remain optimistic. I was really excited when I woke up on Sunday morning and my fever had broken. My stomach was feeling much better but still not great.

Josh suggested that we go to church. I hurriedly got ready and we headed out the door. But we weren’t go to church, he surprised me and took me to brunch at Colterra. It was delicious. Afterward he took a few pics of Ella and me. These are a couple of my favorites.

Unfortunately by the time we got home, my excitement to hit the spa thanks to Josh and I was curbed by the return of my queasiness. I have no idea what was going on. Once I got Ella down for a nap, I took one too…two hours long. It was amazing. Just what I needed!

This morning I’m still not 100% but so much better than I was this weekend. This week is get back on track week. My goal is to maintain as much of the fitness I’ve gained over the past few months and use that to my advantage when I start marathon training next month. I’m hoping, that if I can do that, I can run a 4 hour marathon.

How was your weekend?

P.S. Have all you new moms out there seen this? Blubbering idiot over here.
