Last weekend we escaped for a mini-vacation in Steamboat Springs. It was our first trip that didn’t involve flying, driving for 7+ hours, or any family commitments. It was just for our little family.
We arrived late Friday night, which lead to a family party until midnight. Luckily Ella was nice enough to sleep in until 7:30 the next morning.
We started our mini-vacay with a trip to the Steamboat Hot Springs & Recreation Center. They had childcare until noon so Josh and I were able to get in a workout. It wasn’t the nicest rec center I’ve ever been to but it sufficed. I even snuck a peak of a Zumba class. I know feel ridiculous for being intimidated by Zumba because if the senior citizen in the front of the class can do it, so can I.
After a workout, we headed to the pool and hot springs.
Ella had her fill of the water after about an hour.
She was so exhausted she fell asleep as soon as I put her in her carseat. We picked up lunch and headed back to our mountainside condo where we spent the rest of the afternoon cheering on the CSU Ram and Huskers to victories and taking a family nap. Yes, the entire family all slept. Glorious.
Sunday morning i had a 5am wake up call. I was just pulling Ella into bed with us when an emergency alarm went off. We had to evacuate the condos. Grr. Luckily after eating breakfast and a little play time, we got Ella back to bed and slept until 9:30. I haven’t seen a 9:30 am in bed in ages.
We rented bikes and road along the river. Ella was a little uneasy about the Burley setup in the beginning but after a few minutes she loved cruising along.
We even stopped to smell the flowers.
We ate lunch at a local pizza place at a picnic table under the shade of a huge tree before heading out on what we called an urban hike because the majority of the very short trail was paved. Nothing like cement in nature.
We made it home just in time for family nap time take two. For a glorious 1.5 hours we all slept. Obviously we needed to rest up in order to make sure that we had enough energy to chow down on Mexican and drink margaritas.
We drove home Monday but not before picking up the cutests pajamas ever.
Yes I realize it’s only September, but I couldn’t help myself. Come on…Bear Bottom. Haha.
Rest, relaxation, family time. That’s what Labor Day was all about this year. It was amazing.
How was your weekend?
