I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions. Over my lifetime I may have set a few here and there. With one exception, of getting healthy and losing the 20 lbs I gained when I turned 21, they are a distant memory by late February. I do believe in starting the year on a positive note.
We spent New Year’s Eve with our friends Kirsten, Brandon and their beautiful baby girl Piper. We ate, we played games and watched as Ella and Piper took eachother in. They are going to give us so many headaches when they grow up. A year may be a big age difference now, but it won’t be for long. We talked about the year past and the upcoming year. Kirsten mentioned she wanted to run 500 miles this year. I think this is awesome and a goal she will totally be able to accomplish! Maybe we’ll even run a race together.
It got me thinking about how many miles I ran last year. I have no idea. I never really tracked my mileage aside from checking it off of my training plans. Maybe 1000, maybe 2000. No idea. I signed myself up for Daily Mile. This year I will know.
I wanted to start off with a bang. I was going to do 13 miles to ring in 2013, but as it turns out, not running that distance in a month and not being able to stomach a gel, doesn’t bode well. I did a nice easy 10 on New Year’s Day. I had two more great runs last week for a total of 25 miles. It felt good.
That is the goal, start and end the year well and feel good all the days in between.
Happy New Year!
