Half Way! Woohoo. If this baby takes after its sister, we’re more than half way. I am amazed at how fast the half way mark came. I don’t know if it’s because I’m busier and have less time for this pregnancy to be all-consuming, but I feel like we just found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago and here we are at 20 weeks. August is coming way too fast. Though I’m so excited, I feel like I need more prep time for myself, Ella and Josh.
Weight Gain to Date: Right now I’m at about 6.5-7 lbs. I dropped a little bit again then came back up. My weight gain has been so strange this time around. I go down, then up, then down, then up. This week was the first that someone asked me if I was expecting. It actually went something like this:
Coworker: Ok I’m going to ask.
Me: Ask what?
Coworker: Did you have a big lunch or is Ella going to have a brother or sister?
Me: Haha. Well, it was lunch…(awkward silence). I’m just kidding, I’m due in August.
Coworker: Phew. Congratulations! Thanks great!
It wasn’t nice of me to say it was lunch at first, but I just couldn’t help myself. He was a good sport.
Belly Button in or out: In. No signs of it popping out any time soon.
Baby Size: Sprout is now the size of a cantaloupe, 6.5 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. We’ll see how much this little one weighs at our ultrasound next week!
New Developments: Sprout is producing meconium and has working taste buds.
Cravings: I’m primarily craving tomato based foods: spaghetti, pizza, salsa, etc. I don’t know if it is the acidity I’m digging or what, but I’m all about it. I had been craving Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos Tacos even though I’d never had them. I finally gave in and now I don’t need them again. I am also really looking forward to the Spring Fling cake I ordered for Easter. It’s a good thing that I won’t have it in our house before then, because I cannot guaranty that there would be any left for our guests.
Food aversions: Depends on the day. There is nothing that I feel sick just thinking about. I did have a strange reaction to Fage with Peach the other day. I took two bites and gagged a bit. Not sure if it was the peach or just one of those things, but the other flavors have been fine.
Feeling: I’m good. No nausea, no headaches.
Sleep: I’ve been sleeping like a rock for the most part. I do have to get up fairly regularly to turn the fan up because I’m a human heater. I long for weekend naps when Ella is napping.
Movement: This baby is getting pretty darn active and the movements are getting a lot stronger. Josh has been able to feel them and I’ve seen the kicks a few times. Ella felt it the other night and looked at me with a confused look on her face. I explained it was the baby in my tummy. She now says hi to the baby and kisses my belly. It is the sweetest thing, which naturally makes me cry.
Gender: A few more days to go until we get to see this little one for the first time! We’re so excited. I know I was confidently saying boy the other day, but now I’m feeling girl. I keep thinking of girl names for some reason. I have a 50/50 chance of being right either way.
Maternity Clothes: Still primarily wearing my regular clothes. My work pants that were too big are now getting quite snug in the waist. I’ve put away at least three pairs of jeans, but my low-rise pairs and ‘fat’ jeans are still working for me. I’m starting to wear some maternity shirts because I think they are a little more flattering than my regular shirts that make me look like I’m just getting a beer gut.
Running: Going strong but my poor bladder is starting up. I managed that 11 mile run earlier this week, but like I said, my bladder didn’t enjoy it much. I’m just so happy that I’m still running at all. I see a mileage (at least long run wise) reduction in the near future.
For Comparison (here’s 20 weeks last time)
