26 Weeks – Take Two

We’ve had a growth spurt! No longer am I being questioned whether or not I’m pregnant. Now I’m being asked without hesitation when I’m due. That being said, I feel like when I look in the mirror I’m way bigger than I am in these pictures.

26 weeks

Weight Gain to Date: As of this morning, my scale says I’ve gained 13 lbs. Not one bit surprised by the jump in poundage. Honestly, I’ve indulged a bit much lately, especially when I was in California. My sweet tooth is back with a vengeance. Overall I’m still happy with my weight gain thus far.

Belly Button in or out: Barely hanging onto being an innie. It is flat most of the time.

Baby Size:  Sprout is now the size of an eggplant! He weighs about 1 lb 10 oz and measures 14 inches or so.

New Developments:  Sprout is soaking up antibodies, getting his immune system ready for life outside the womb. His eyes are forming, and he’ll soon be practicing the blink. I wonder if Sprout will have the same beautiful brown, sometimes hazel eyes, Ella has. I hope so!

Cravings: I finally found some pumpkin spice granola. Yeay! It just arrived last night and I’m really looking forward to that mixed with vanilla yogurt and strawberries. Sounds like a fairly healthy craving right? My tomato craving has subsided but just enough for my burger craving to take over. Note to self, stop watching the Food Network and Travel Channel shows on great burgers while running.

Food aversions: Nothing at the moment. I’m pretty much open to all foods right now.

Feeling: Tired as usual, but overall I’m feeling good. I also have some lingering nausea. I thought at first it was possibly the food poisoning that Josh got on Cinco de Mayo, but I haven’t gotten sick which leads me to believe it’s pregnancy related. Last Friday night I had some pretty bad Braxton Hicks contractions. It made me a bit nervous because they actually hurt. I spent all Friday night on the couch and they went away. I think maybe I was dehydrated. As I get closer to the third trimester I’m trying hard to listen more to my body and less to the voices in my head telling me I need to work out as much as possible.

Sleep: I’ve actually been sleeping! Last week I went to bed at 8:30pm one night. It was amazing and obviously something my body really needed because I slept soundly until 5 the next morning when my alarm went off. For the first time in months I woke up refreshed and didn’t even yawn all day. As of this week, middle of the night bathroom breaks have started which suck, but it is better than waking up in a puddle.

Movement: We had a big slowdown in movement for a few days which totally freaked me out. He was back to his normal active self after my early bedtime. I think he was tired too. He really likes to hang out on my right side and thinks it’s fun to kick Ella when she cuddles to read books before bed.

Maternity Clothes: I finally decided to give up my regular pants. The way I’m carrying this time is making my belly stick out really low which makes pants with real waist lines very uncomfortable. I stuck it out past the half way mark and am ready to be in maternity for the next three months. Spring is also almost here to stay and I’m so glad. It really opens up some more wardrobe options for me.

Running: I’m still going, maybe not strong, but still putting one foot in front of the other. After having a pity party for myself the other day, I’ve put on my big girl pants and embraced the limitations my body is giving me right now. Last week I ran a little over 14 miles and surpassed the 300 mile mark for 2013. That isn’t too shabby considering I’ve been pregnant all year and haven’t trained for any races. I registered for a Mother’s Day 9k this weekend after looking at the course map to discover that have porta potties every 1.5 miles. I’m looking forward to it!
