I am happy to report I’m feeling almost like myself again. I took my final dose of antibiotics on Sunday morning and have actually gotten some sleep at night. Tonight is going to be my first run in over a week now. I’m so excited, even though it may be inside because the high is 98 degrees today. Last night at 9pm, it was still 80. It’s going to be one hot summer.
With the summer heat does come some fun. Evening concerts downtown, which we enjoyed on Friday night. Ella loved dancing and having a large audience to fawn over her. The popcorn was an added bonus.
Garage sales are going on every weekend in all the surrounding neighborhoods. I’m not really into garage sales, but this weekend we actually had some good finds. We perused the sales as we walked around the neighborhood directly across the street from us. Josh bought Ella a ridiculously large Elmo, just what she needed, a toy train, and I scored some baby boy clothes. It’s hit me all the sudden how under prepared we are for this little guy’s arrival. I washed the newborn and 0-3 month size garage sales finds plus the few outfits I’ve bought him and put them nicely in the guest room dresser.
Fresh vegetables from our garden. Josh harvested the first bunch of lettuces. I’m really looking forward to the huge salad I made for lunch today. And yes, those are pieces of Ella’s leftover chicken tenders from lunch on Sunday.
We also harvested rhubarb. I made rhubarb crisp this weekend which is just about gone. The only thing that would have made it better is homemade vanilla ice cream. Now that tastes like summer!
With fresh rhubarb and berries on sale at the store, naturally Josh thought it time to make fresh jam.
It is so good.
Much to my relief, my replacement bridesmaid dress for my friend Sarah’s wedding arrived this weekend.
I have no idea what I was thinking ordering just one size up several months ago. There was no way that thing was going to zip. My chest has expanded a lot more than I thought. When I was able to zip up the new one, that is three sizes larger than I normally wear, I literally jumped for joy. I was starting to panic that I was not going to have a dress to wear in the wedding this coming weekend!
Yesterday we laced up our shoes and went for a short hike with our friends Russell and Shanna before they jetted off to Hawaii today. So jealous! Just look at our view.
We only made it about 1.5-1.75 miles round trip, but it was hot and straight up. It felt good to be out and about. Plus who doesn’t love a hike with friends followed by a yummy lunch on a patio while enjoying lemonade (me) and beer (them).
Top it off with the squeals of pure joy as Ella ran through our sprinkler, it was a good weekend. How was your weekend?
