32 Weeks – Take Two

Only eight weeks to go, give or take. But apparently, according to a few different people this week, all on the same day, I look like I’m ready to pop and will be huge by August. Um…thanks? Please keep opinions like that to yourself. Rude and who doesn’t know better than to say shit like that to a pregnant woman? All I could say is, well geez, I hope not.

I know we’ve had a growth spurt, but no one likes to hear that they look huge. I had Josh take my picture at night this week after a full day of eating when I’m looking my biggest (black shirt). I took one this morning for comparison.

32 weeks Evening and Morning

Weight Gain to Date: I had no idea what to expect when I stepped on the scale this week. I definitely indulged last weekend at the wedding and this week at my work baby shower. I’ve been trying to be really good about getting in at least 10-15k steps every day (thanks UP bracelet for putting the pressure on) but haven’t gotten much exercise outside of a lot of walking and the elliptical the other night. Total weight gain is now at 19 lbs.

Belly Button in or out: Definitely an outie. I haven’t started putting a Band-Aid over it just yet, but I’m getting close to that point.

Baby Size:  Sprout is about 17 inches from head to toe and weighs about 3.75 pounds give or take a few ounces.  Right now I’m feeling like he’s much bigger than Ella was. Josh thinks I’m nuts, but it feels like he’s so squished in there and my skin is about to burst at the seams.

New Developments:  He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair. His skin is becoming soft and smooth. I’ve been having heartburn quite a bit lately, I wonder if that old wives tale about babies with lots of hair causing heartburn in the womb? Guess time will tell.

Cravings:  Fruit and things that are cool, though I’m sorry that stupid watermelon cake thing that has been floating around the web, is not in fact a cake. It’s a piece of fruit trying to pose as a not as delicious substitute. I’ll still take cake thank you. Anyway, it’s getting hot outside and anything that doesn’t involve the oven or the stove sound good. I made us caprese BLTs last night with pesto mayo…so good. I really just want to drink lemonade and apple juice. I find when I get bored I’m prone to eating. I think if I never got bored, I wouldn’t be eating much.

Food aversions: Fish. I felt bad but I could not handle the fish that Josh made last weekend. He was excited that he was cooking up fish he caught himself, but I could barely choke down one bite. The texture was all wrong for me.

Feeling: Still feeling good. My energy level is starting to lag again but I have no problems keeping active and carrying around Ella. No backaches, headaches or sore boobs.

Sleep: Thanks to my new UP band I have been able to track my sleep for the past 1.5 weeks. I sleep an average of 5.5 hours every night. Over the course of these hours, I typically wake up twice and am up for a total of 30-40 minutes in the night. Apparently of these hours, I’m only getting an average of 2.5 hours of deep sleep every night. It’s no wonder I am so tired every morning when I drive to work.

Movement: He’s got the moves like Jagger. Seriously, I think he’s having a dance party in there. He moves all the time except when someone wants to feel him move. Sprout is officially head down and is expected to stay that way which means his tiny little tush is right up against my ribs. Slouching isn’t really an option now which is a good thing.

Maternity Clothes: I’m living in dresses as of late. They are the only piece of clothing that keep me cool enough in these 90 degree temps we’ve been having lately. I did pick up a few new tank tops from Old Navy that I love.

Running: I’m calling it, I’m done. I attempted to run a few times this week and it hurt. Not a shooting pain but a head is hitting my cervix pain. TMI? Anyway, I’m happy that I made it nearly 32 weeks. That is 18 weeks longer than I made it when I was pregnant with Ella. I’m going to keep up with walking, heading to the gym when I can and maybe even hit the pool (I’ve been saying this for years but have only made it like twice – must follow through).

Name: We’re giving ourselves a deadline for the middle of the next month. By then we want to have our name list narrowed down to our top three. After that, we’ll just wait to see what he looks like.

  1. I think you look fantastic – not at all huge. Also, THANK YOU because that watermelon is just a dressed up watermelon but CERTAINLY not a cake. And also looks like a lot of work. Just eat the fruit!

  2. Gosh, you are such a cow. NOT! You look good, and I certainly cannot believe you are 32 weeks already! Also, watermelon with yogurt is not cake, it is breakfast and it sort of sounds gross. Give me a whole watermelon and a spoon thank you very much. I did by white cake vodka today but that’s not really cake, either, and nor can you have it. I think regular ole cake or, wait, ice cream cake is a much better option. And I’ve just rambled for no good reason on your blog. I rock!

  3. That vodka sounds delicious! Now I’m thinking of yummy, strawberry shotcake type sangrias and such. So summery and refreshing. I’ll add that to my beverage obsession…to be added after birth of course. We’re all over the ice cream cake for Ella’s b-day. Yum!

  4. I have no idea why people think pregnancy somehow makes all number of unacceptable comments ok to say. Could you imagine saying something like that to an overweight person?

    Nice work with only gaining 19 lbs so far! I’m impressed and don’t think you look huge at all. People just don’t think!
