I’m at a point I’ve never been before. I am now 39 weeks pregnant and feeling anxious and nervous. Anxious to meet this little boy and nervous that we’re only a week away from when they start talking to me about induction options should I hit 41 weeks. The thought of induction freaks me out!
I made sure to change my clothes for this week’s picture, but was not actually fully awake. I still had puffy, sleep face:
Weight Gain to Date: I managed to plateau this week. Still at 27.5 lbs.
Belly Button in or out: Depends on Sprout’s position, but typically an outie. During a contraction, it could probably cut you. I had a contraction mid-picture this morning.
Baby Size: Sprout could be anywhere between 6-8 lbs right now and about 18-21 inches long. I’m hoping he’s on the lower end, a nice healthy weight of course, but I feel like there is a big difference between delivering a 5lbs 11oz baby like Ella and an 8 pounder.
New Developments: He’s probably able to flex his limbs now (we know he is great at stretching his legs) and his brain is still rapidly developing — he’s getting smarter by the week! His nails may extend past his fingertips. I better pack those baby nail clippers.
Cravings: Nothing and everything. I just eat to pass time these days.
Food aversions: No changes here.
Feeling: Inpatient. I’m trying to find my The Time of Zwischen zen place, but I haven’t yet. I’m happy for every additional day I have with just the family of three, but I’m ready to meet this little boy. I think Josh and Ella are ready too. Ella keeps finding more toys she wants to give to her brother and piling them up in his room, which is currently Emma’s room. It is really sweet. My poor family has been subjected to crazy mood swings though. I can go from happy to irritated to a ball of tears within a 10 minutes span.
Sleep: Varies nightly. Monday night I was up for 1.5 hours having contractions, Tuesday night I slept like a rock. Wednesday I was up for a while with contractions and last night was actually fairly decent.
Movement: Stretching out his legs is his favorite.
Exercise: Mainly walking and some squats this week. I wanted to get in another swim, but it’s turned out to be quite a busy week so I didn’t make it to the pool. I am also going to go ahead and count carrying Ella as exercise at this point. Carrying a 22 lbs toddler on top of the belly is exhausting.
Name: We’ve made a little progress and are at least talking about it again without the conversation ending with us getting frustrated with each other. I think by this weekend we’ll settle on a name or maybe two.
Signs of Labor: Contractions, contractions, contractions. Irritability? Does that count as a sign of labor. Oh and my boobs…killing me and leaking colostrum. I know you wanted to know that.
