If you’ve been watching or reading the news in the past few days, you’ve probably heard about the rain of ‘biblical proportions’ we’ve had. I’m lucky to report we are fine. Though the rest of Longmont, Lyons, Jamestown and Boulder are in rough condition. They are saying the Longmont flooding is a 500 year event. Here are a few pictures we took of the flooding in Longmont last night.
These are the areas we could still get to. Before noon Josh was sent home and it took him over two hours to get to daycare to pick up Ella then home…it’s 8 miles total. The city has been cut in half leaving travel north or south impossible. The only open road into Longmont is Hwy 66 which we live just off of. Only problem there, it’s only open to Main Street and I-25 the main interstate, is closed. The majority of Main Street and the streets off of it are also closed. Needless to say, we’re not going anywhere.
We’re lucky that we live in the elevated portion of town. We’re just waiting to hear how everyone has faired. Several of Ella’s teachers and some of Josh’s coworkers, were forced from their homes. The city is shut down for the most part today. After raining all night, we finally have a short break. With more in the forecast until Monday, we wait.
