I love the seasons, all of them. I like watching the leaves change colors in the fall, the flowers bloom in the spring and the sunshine in the summer. I even enjoy watching the snow fall down in the winter. What I don’t like, ice. Usually when it snows here, it is quickly melted away in a few days. The sun comes out and boom, it’s gone. Much to my dismay, that has not been the case with this latest storm. Until about two days ago the sidewalks and streets were still covered with packed snow and black ice.
Saturday, with the sun shining and temps in the 40s, I laced up my shoes, strapped on my Garmin and headed out the door. I was excited to do a longer run outside breathing in the fresh air. My excitement and attitude were quickly hampered as I encountered sheets of ice at every turn. I ended up doing out and backs several times on the few sidewalks that were snow and ice free. Unfortunately this led to me cut my run short. I know I’m a big baby. Maybe I just need to get some YakTrax. I had every intention of hopping on the treadmill for a few more miles late in the afternoon, but with Ella sleeping and Anderson sleeping on me, I took a much need nap instead.
Here’s how the rest of the week shaped up.
Saturday – 5.1 mile run
Sunday – 4ish mile walk with Claire (wearing Anderson…it’s getting to be a workout)
Monday – Rest day
Tuesday – 6.35 mile run
Wednesday – Half Deck of Pain (burpees, push-ups, sit-ups, squats)
Thursday – 4.3 mile run
Friday – Rest day (getting my hair done…woohoo!)
This weekend it’s supposed to be sunny and in the upper 40s and low 50s also known as perfect running weather. I’m planning on running 7-8 miles and trying out Bob Harper’s kettle bell workout.
Weekend weekend…here I come!
