Lake Wobegon Marathon Training {Week 4}

It’s going to be in the 30s! Inside I was jumping up and down with excitement. Not only was it going to be substantially warmer than it has been for the past several Saturdays, I was meeting my BRFs Amy and Hazel to run outside. I have been missing running outside.

Maybe it was the excitement that got to me, but I could not sleep Friday night. I went to bed earlyish but when 3 am hit, I was awake. With or without sleep, I was meeting the girls for a run.

As I slide right through the stop sign leaving out neighborhood, it suddenly occurred to me that it might be a smidge icy. We didn’t let it deter us. Off we went. Treacherous, sums it up best I think. I slid and fell once, but without injury. It took us an hour and a half to run just under seven miles.

Amy and I finished running on the sidewalks rather than trails. We had much less ice to contend with but a nasty wind. Regardless, it was one of my best runs in weeks. Running outside is good for my soul, and of course, my body.
