Lake Wobegon Marathon Training {Weeks 5 & 6}

Training is getting real. Last weekend I did my longest run to date, 17 miles. My legs are constantly tired and I’m ravenously hungry ALL.THE.TIME. This training cycle seems to be going really well thus far. With 10 weeks to go, I can feel myself getting faster and stronger.

Highlights:

  • I’m killing my speed workouts more than they are killing me. While I stop to get a drink at some point during the intervals, I’m nailing my target speeds and feeling great afterwards. I’m getting faster and having to up my Push pace at OTF in order to get into the orange zone.
  • Strengthening all the right muscles. Since starting Orangetheory a few months ago, I’ve been working more on strength training. I can already see and feel a difference over my entire body.
  • Back outside! The weather is warming up which means less snow and ice to deal with. Goodbye long runs on the treadmill, hello scenic trails.
